With almost 50 years of sewing experience, Ita has worked with multiple companies and sewn countless types of materials. As a young girl growing up on the family farm, she taught herself to sew, making skirts for her and her three sisters. When Ita immigrated to the United States at 19, she quickly found herself working as a seamstress and perfecting her trade. Ita’s background in materials is well versed - working with leathers for high-end handbags at Jack Georges and sewing suits for prestigious brands like Tahari. Over the years, Ita has experimented with sewing and has found a passion for leather baby shoes. When her first granddaughter was born, Ita was not happy with the attention to detail on the leather shoes for babies so she decided to create a version of her own. After tireless years of perfecting the style and design, Stork Stitch was born!
